DuroData developed an online, highly secure system for Ledma, Omneport using Microsoft ASP.NET and Microsoft SQL Server technologies.
The hardware and physical security for the Omneport application, hosted by The Bunker is held within a military grade highly secure physical and digital environment, dedicated servers and firewalls hold and protect users valuable and confidential data whilst allowing authenticated users to access their information from anywhere in the world. Multiple power sources, data connections and managed support ensure that the service is available 24 / 7.
Application security, designed and implemented by Durodata, uses tried and tested Microsoft security principles such as .NET Forms Authentication, SSL data encryption to ensure data is safe in transit and 256 bit AES data encryption for data stored on the server. On top of this, Durodata have implemented custom security procedures such as:- Multiple Step Authentication: Built on top of the .NET forms authentication, Multi-factor authenticated is used to enhance security at this stage. Access to a users account is never reliant on a single username and password combination, similar to processes commonly used with online banking. At each step of the authentication process, Durodata have carefully selected controls and have used techniques to prevent key logging and add over-the-shoulder privacy features.
- Cache & Navigation Protection: Caching techniques have been used to prevent users information and data being kept on the local machine which could be accessible to subsequent users. This is especially important when accessing your data from shared machines such as those found in internet cafes. Navigation protection prevents subsequent users attempting to discover previous users personal information by using built in browser navigation such as the back button and browser history.
- Timeout & Session Expiry: To protect a users account further in the event of a workstation being left unattended for an amount of time or if a user forgets to logoff from the secure system using the proper procedures. The system automatically logs the user out of the system when it has been left idle for a set period of time. This time period is user customisable and can be specified under the users account settings.
Since the successful release of the Omneport system Durodata have been working with Ledma to both add and enhance functionality of the Omneport system with features such as document grouping & secure document sharing which helps to eliminate many of the pitfalls of e-mail communication and two new sister products, Omneport Central and myTsafe.
Omneport Central, developed with business users in mind is based around the Omneport product but allows a number of users to share a single account. This is extremely useful for users of an organisation who need to manage and share documents / files securely within the organisation. Users can even be part of and easily navigate between multiple Omneport Central accounts.
Durodata have since been commissioned to develop a business to consumer version of the application called myTsafe which allows individuals to store files and documents is the same secure environment as used by Omneport. Accounts can be purchased quickly easily and most importantly securely via the online payment gateway for which they have a number of account options to choose from varying in the amount or data that can be stored, the numbers of files that can be stored and the features available.
In recent months Ledma has partnered with many large organisations across the globe supplying both their staff and customers with branded Omneport & myTsafe accounts. With clear positive feedback from users and customers about the security and ease of use for all the online systems provided by Ledma, the project has become a huge success.
